Speedy Turtle Recipe

Speedy Turtles
Pretzels (the usual twisted ones)
Rolo Candies
Pecan halves

Lay pretzels on a cookie sheet (I lined mine with parchment paper)
unwrap Rolos and set them...one on each pretzel Bake pretzel/rolo for 4 minutes in 350 degree oven.

Remove from oven, press pecan half down to squish melted rollo.

This is the best flavor combo imaginable and so easy. The big time killer is unwrapping each Rolo... get the kids involved.

Ninja Cow

Personally my favorite part of this story is the quotation marks in this paragraph:

A calf that was believed to be the cow's had been placed in the pen Monday. But she busted out without it, and the calf has been placed with "people knowledgeable about farm animals," Rathman said.

I'm on Robin Lee Hatchers Blog today

And there is a RECIPE!
Besides us talking about our novella that just released
A Home for Christmas
on sale for 99 cents on Kindle and Nook

I have a Christmas novella releasing today--with Robin Lee Hatcher

And it just went up on Amazon today.

Wow, fast work. It's a ebook and it costs 99 cents
I recommend you buy one for everyone on your Christmas list . (And don't tell them how much it cost!)

It's called:

A Home for Christmas: The Sweetest Gift/A Christmas Angel

Click HERE to buy for Kindle on Amazon

Click HERE to buy for Nook on Barnes and Noble

If you have neither a Kindle or a Nook you can download the book to your computer and since it's a novella, it doesn't take long to read it there.
It's two romances in one book.

The Sweetest Gift by Mary Connealy

A spinster with a master's degree who is a world traveler, librarian by day and concert pianist by night, marries a Nebraska rancher with an eighth grade education. Their worlds are so far apart that each is afraid to admit their marriage of convenience is turning into a love match.

When Christmas draws near Adelaide must decide if she can give up her hopes of owning a beautiful piano so her husband can have the stallion he needs for his ranch. And Graham may need to risk his perfect brood mare to show his love for his wife by buying her the Christmas gift of her dreams.

A Christmas Angel by Robin Lee Hatcher

Ten-year-old Annie Gerrard, stuck in a wheelchair since falling from the barn loft, hopes for a beautiful angel to go atop the Christmas tree, but God’s answer to her prayer is completely unexpected.
Annie’s widower father, Mick, hated to ask his in-laws for help, but he had no other choice. He never imagined they would send his wife’s stepsister, Jennifer Whitmore, to care for his daughter. Nor did he foresee the love she would bring into their home. Did he and Annie dare hope that Jennifer might choose to stay?

Romantic Times reviews Ten Plagues-4 Stars!

by Mary ConNealy

Genre: Inspirational, Mystery/Thriller/Suspense

RT Rating 4 Stars ****

In a departure from her usual historical genre, Nealy has crafted a creepy tale of suspense and murder with just the right amount of romance to temper the drama. Keren’s unique spiritual gift will keep readers riveted to the pages of this thrilling story.

A killer is loose in Chicago, and Det. Keren Collins wants to find the villain before more people disappear. Paul Morris is an ex-cop turned pastor who runs a mission for the homeless. Keren and Paul connect when it becomes apparent that the person responsible for the crimes is basing them on the plagues of Egypt, and the dead women are connected to Paul. Can they work together to stop the madman before it’s too late? (BARBOUR, Oct., 352 pp., $12.99)

Coffee, Two Hearses and a Dog

A woman was leaving a 7-11 with her morning coffee when she noticed a most unusual funeral procession approaching the nearby cemetery.

A long black hearse was followed by a second hearse about 50 feet behind. Behind the second hearse was a solitary woman walking a Pit Bull dog on a leash.

Behind her were 200 women walking single file.

The woman couldn't stand the curiosity. She respectfully approached the woman walking the dog and said, "I am so sorry for your loss, and I know now is bad time to disturb you, but I've never seen a funeral like this. Whose funeral is it?"

The woman replied, "Well, that first hearse is for my husband,"

"What happened to him?"

The woman replied, "My dog attacked and killed him."

She inquired further, "Well who is in the second hearse?"

"His mistress. She tried to help my husband, then the dog turned on her."

A poignant and thoughtful moment of silence passes between the two women.

"Can I borrow the dog?"

She replied, "Get in line."

You Know You're From Nebraska When....

The local gas station sells live bait, next to the local jerked beef and homemade jam.

At least twice a year some part of your home doubles as a meat processing plant.

You understand that brakes on silage trucks are considered a luxury.

“Bulldoggin'“ is an event.

As the American flag passes, you are on your feet and have removed your hat, your hand is over your heart, or someone behind you gives you a slap-on-the-head reminder to do so.
You think that the start of deer and pheasant season is a national holiday.
You understand the true meaning to “snipe” hunting.

Pop is the only name for soda.

The trip into town for school takes longer than your lunch period.

“Crown Royal” has nothing to do with nobility.

You Know You're From Nebraska When...

You know how to polka, but never tried it sober....

You know what “knee-high by the Fourth of July” means.

You know the difference between “Green” and “Red” farm machinery, and would fight with your friends on the playground over which was better!

You buy Christmas presents at Fleet Farm or Tractor Supply Co.

You hear someone use the word “oof-dah” or “Holy Buckets” and you don't break into uncontrollable laughter.

You or someone you know was a “Beef Queen” or “Dairy Princess” at the county fair.

You know that “combine” is a noun.

You let your older siblings talk you into putting your tongue on a steel post in the middle of winter, or peeing on a electric fence.

You know that “creek” rhymes with “pick”.

Football schedules, branding calves and weaning, hunting season and harvest are all taken into consideration before wedding dates are set.

If the sun is out, it's really windy, and you’re getting wet....better get on upside to moving livestock.

Saturday you go to your local bowling alley.

Cruising “Main” lasts for six blocks.

You have driven your car on the lake.

You can make sense of “upnort” and “batree”.

Every wedding dance you have ever been to has the hokey pokey and the chicken dance.

Your definition of a small town is one that only has one bar.

If a road you're driving on has more than three curves to a mile.....you are nearing or in the Sand Hills.

Your vocabulary still includes, “Yes, Ma’am” and “No, Sir”

You actually understand these jokes and will forward them to all your Nebraska friends!

Out of Control Makes Bestseller List!!!

Out of Control
My August Release
Just showed up on the
BESTSELLER LIST!
YAY!!!
#17
(Just in case you think I'd ... ahem ... make this up!)

Hard to Buy For :)

Four brothers left home for college, and they became successful doctors and lawyers.

One evening, they chatted after having dinner together. They discussed the 75th birthday gifts they were able to give their elderly mother who moved to Florida.

The first said, "You know I had a big house built for Mama."

The second said, “And I had a large theater built in the house."

The third said, "And I had my Mercedes dealer deliver an SL600 to her."

The fourth said, "You know how Mama loved reading the Bible and you know she can't read anymore because she can't see very well. I met this preacher who told me about a parrot who could recite the entire Bible. It took ten preachers almost 8 years to teach him. I had to pledge to contribute $50,000 a year for five years to the church, but it was worth it. Mama only has to name the chapter and verse, and the parrot will recite it."

The other brothers were impressed. After the celebration Mama sent out her Thank You notes.

She wrote: Milton, the house you built is so huge that I live in only one room, but I have to clean the whole house. Thanks anyway."

"Marvin, I am too old to travel. I stay home; I have my groceries delivered, so I never use the Mercedes. The thought was good. Thanks."

"Michael, you gave me an expensive theater with Dolby sound and it can hold 50 people, but all of my friends are dead, I've lost my hearing, and I’m nearly blind. I'll never use it. Thank you for the gesture just the same."

"Dearest Melvin, you were the only son to have the good sense to give a little thought to your gift. The chicken was delicious. Thank you so much."

Love,
Mama

Mary Vee used me as a good example on
The Writer's Alley

It's so much more common that I'm used as a
HORRIBLE WARNING.

Missouri Flood of 2011

So we were just minding our own business...driving on roads with big barricades across them.
But not ALL the way across, of course.
And we came to what can only be described as a 'rough spot' in the road.
Yes, this is across a road, note the electric poles.
They still work.
I know someone past this road, their house on a high spot
that is now an ISLAND and they still have electricity.
I took these pictures with my phone.
Then, because I don't know how to get them off my phone, except I can PHONE them to someone
I phoned them to my daughter and she knows how to email them.
Her phone is smart...mine...or maybe ME...not so smart
We got out to consider our options.
Here on the left is My Cowboy, saying he thinks we should put our ride in 4-wheel drive
before proceeding down this road.
BTW his shirt is NOT pink.
Do not make the mistake of thinking that, or worse yet SAYING that.
There is confusion, awe, worry. This is a mess.
Thousands have lost their homes.
The acres of farm land that won't produce a crop...huge.
The NOISE was a surprise.
The river is moving fast all this way away from the main channel.
The water just roared while we stood there and watched.

This is fun! A New Cover

This is the first look at my February 2012 release In Too Deep.
Book #2 in the Kincaid Brides Series
I can't look at that hero without smiling right back at him.
Ethan Kincaid is the charmer in the Kincaid clan.
The worse things get, the wider he smiles.
Trying to find out how Ethan really feels about something is almost impossible
Audra Gilliland, the little sweetheart in the background of the cover, recently lost her tyrannical husband. She's not that sad to see him go.
Audra wants to take charge of her own life.
She's spent her life being a sweet, submission, obedient woman-
-and look at the mess the men in her life have made.
She decides to practice her new found take-charge attitude on Ethan.
And she's found a surprising skill for wiping that smile off his face.

But of course before I can tell Ethan's story, first we meet bossy big brother Rafe and Audra's unlikely step-daughter Julia.
coming this August.
