ACFW Conference pictures

Here I am at the ACFW Conference

Accepting my Carol Award...note how sparkly I am? That is Mindy Obenhaus in red and the other lady is Carol Johnson, a pioneer in Christian fiction, for whom the Carol Awards are named.

ACFW Conference

This picture is such a great example of how fun it is to meet people I know so well online but have never really met. Pepper Basham is a sweetheart. Too smart to hang around me in the normal course of things, but writing brought us together. :)
I'm holding my Carol Award. And I talked to Janette Oke, who wrote Love Comes Softly.
I'd met her once before briefly...the restraining order had lapsed...so I approached her again.
We were just having so much fun. Cheryl Wyatt, Missy Tippens, Pam Hillman and Glynna Kaye and me hovering Lurch-like in the back.
This was just out of control. I swear it didn't cost much to ride to the airport in this limo.
It was beautiful. And pretty funny because I sooooooooooo didn't belong in it.

Seeker pictures.

Myra Johnson, Janet Dean, Debby Giusti, Audra Harders, Missy Tippens and me hovering Lurch-like in the back. (A theme begins to develop!)

Melanie Dickerson, Me and Kim Sawyer, celebrating the color purple I guess. :)

This is Terri and Angela from Texas with me and Audra.

It's so fun to meet people we've met through the year, but haven't seen in too long,

or we only know online.

Sometimes you just can't bear to watch

Is this a two part sign? Maybe? Hopefully?

This just does NOT ring true

I can't believe we're not allowed in for so lame a reason.
This is AMERICA.
We can go in if we want.

Perks of reaching 50

01. In a hostage situation you are likely to be released first
02. No one expects you to run--anywhere.
03. People no longer view you as a hypochondriac.
04. There is nothing left to learn the hard way.
05. Things you buy now won't wear out.
06. You can eat supper at 4 PM.
07. You no longer think of speed limits as a challenge.
08. You quit trying to hold your stomach in no matter who walks into the room.
09. You sing along with elevator music.
10. Your investment in health insurance is finally beginning to pay off.
11. Your joints are more accurate meteorologists than the national weather service.
12. Your secrets are safe with your friends because they can't remember them either.
13. Your supply of brain cells is finally down to manageable size.

This cannot be right

The most colossally bad head and sticker placement OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!!

Voice of Wisdom

Perhaps one of the most important accomplishments of my administration has been minding my own business.

This cracked me up

"How can the media say we're Islamophobic, when we're all dead from swine flu?”
