I posted a review of all my book reviews on Seekerville today if you want to go check. No, not the many, many book reviews I've written over the years. These are reviews for Petticoat Ranch. And they aren't all sweetness and light.

But the poor few who lurk in the sourness and dark aren't going to get me down. Well, not for long, and I have a nice comfy nest under my computer desk so I can stay under there and suck my thumb for a long, long time with no real discomfort.

Come and fine out that, while we try to get published, we grow a rhino hide to protect us against the many criticisms we receive as we are rejected over and over and over. Then, once we DO get published...well, we're glad for the hide because we still need it.

Missy Tippens Debut Novel is Wonderful

He's a wealthy, powerful, workaholic. She's a pink-haired waitress. His niece has run away and ended up with her. Now he's gotta go through her to get his niece to come home. A perfect set up. No two people could be more wrong for each other. It's as much fun as I've had with a romance novel. Just bright and funny and fast moving. I was completely in love with the poor hard-shell, soft-heart hero. I was rooting for the waitress to not get weak in the knees just because he was trying so hard and failing so miserably. But get a LITTLE weak in the knees, after all, he is gorgeous and rich, so give him SOME chance. It was just laugh out loud funny at times, sweet all the way to the heart and so charming I didn't want it to end, except I was desperate for Happily Ever After.

I'm on Petticoats and Pistols today.
And no, I'm not blogging about Jed Clampett. I'm blogging about cowboys of course...and OIL.
I'm working on Gingham Mountain, book three in the Lassoed in Texas series, Petticoat Ranch being book #1, Calico Canyon being Book #2 (due for release in August '08)
And my bad guy's motivation is OIL. I found the research to be so interesting. So I wrote a blog about it.

A poor but honest school teacher with a disabled student.
A heroic member of the pararescue jumpers.
A letter from the boy telling of his dream to meet someone from special forces.
The teacher, the rescuer, the boy in need~~~~~~love is in the air.

That sweet man, so conflicted and hurt, but so honorable and kind. And the teacher trying to do right by her little student.

I loved A Soldier's Promise.

The thing is, we always know, if we're reading a romance that it's gonna be happily every after, right? But Cheryl Wyatt set this book up so we just didn't know. I mean sure the hero and heroine would find a way to be together, but there was more at stake than them and Wyatt didn't necessarily give us all the easy answer, or then again, maybe she did.

I'm not telling.

But I PROMISE she's going to give you a story that's going to be hard to put down.

Something that made this rise above so many romances was how interesting the hero's job was. Pararescuers are a special forces unit trained to recover personnel in hostile areas. That is their primary mission. Their motto is, “That others may live.”

I'd never heard of pararescuers before and it was fun to learn about them.

It all added up to me reading into the wee morning hours. And it's not like I just was determined to find out what happened and I defied good sense.
Oh, no, Cheryl is sneakier than that.

I just read and read and read then I put the book down and saw the clock. I was all the way gone into A Soldier's Promise.

A beautiful story.

A definite Sleep Robber.
