Of Mice. . .and Murder. . .and Elle
Drawing today on Petticoats & Pistols for a signed copy of Nosy in Nebraska, my latest release.
And I baby sat last Sunday for my granddaughter Elle. So, trying to pick which of those was most important to write about.......well, that's a killer. Because while it is true that I worked thousands of hours, chained to a computer, the sun rose and set without notice while I was immersed in plot, character murder, fear of mice and caffeine, and all that is very important, still, Elle's really cute. Stuhr Museum-Grand Island, Nebraska
At the Stuhr Museum in Grand Island, Nebraska. An old, old, old car. did I mention it's OLD?
I love the log cabin farm place. The house, the barn, the fence-check out that fence. Seriously formidable, let those blasted bunnies try and get through there! But the wild turkeys? How cool is that? They were just passin' through.
I love this fence. I'd never seen such a thing before. Did homesteaders really have fences like this? Unlike now, if a bunny ate your lettuce or a raccoon ate your sweet corn, you might STARVE so I suppose it WAS serious.
This is the barn. I didn't take a good enough picture here, but on the right there's an overhang-- a kind of porch roof, and under that were tools and barn-y kinda stuff so it must be a barn.
More turkey. More angles on the cabins. Love those log buildings.
A teepee. I'm not sure how authentic this is but the Stuhr Museum is trying to be very historically faithful so it's probably pretty good, huh?
This is an old buggy, probably pretty fancy for it's time, with red paint and black leather. Sadly, it's in better shape than the wreck I drive to work.
During summer hours all these buildings are staffed, so a man would be in this blacksmith shop uh...blacksmithing? Whatever that is? I know there's an anvil involved. Right?
A fair price. Please, buy a bath on occasion...I'm speaking to my forefathers. It's too late and I guess they thrived since ... HERE I AM. But still.........
I loved the look of this place. the wooden windmill, the red barn, the small grain bin...or is it a holding tank for water. I'll bet that's it. Then the house, which is in the background, would have water pressure. How GREEN is that? No electricity anywhere.

A bank. Why do I just feel this place waiting to be robbed? I'm a novelist, that's why. We need conflict, crime, trouble. Where's are story if everyone's getting along and being law abiding???
Some of these artifacts, buildings and details will definitely work their way into my books.

Single Sashimi
Single Sashimi is book three in Camy Tang’s Sushi Series. Fast paced, funny, romantic chick lit set in an American Asian family. I’ve read all three books and loved them. Single Sashimi is my favorite of them all.Venus, is the career-minded, of the cousins.. She’s beautiful and hard driving and very successful…until she gets passed over for a promotion…to a job she’s already doing. In the male dominated world of video games, Venus has proved herself an equal to any man, but she can’t quite convince her jerk of a boss that she’s not just another pretty face.
When the promotion doesn’t come through, not only is an incompetent underling given her job, and his now her boss, but the new boss restructures the company so she still has to do his job, and now do her own job, too. Leaving him little to do except collect his hefty paycheck.
Venus gets a job offer that is a huge step down. But she needs to step somewhere before she explodes. But the only offer in town is from Drake, who was her boss once before, and lost her when he asked her to do something disgusting to please a client.
Venus can’t get a break.
Drake swears he’s changed. He vows to give Venus the freedom to run his sister’s start-up company with complete freedom. He apologizes sincerely and often for the mistakes of the past.
And still Venus can hardly look at the man without strangling him.
It only makes it worse that he’s the most attractive man Venus has ever seen.
And then comes Venus’s grandmother. The meddling matchmaker, who has more business connections than any bossy little Asian lady ought to have. And she’ll use them to help Venus get back on her feet, if only Venus will do Grandmother the tiny favor of dating the man Grandmother says she should.
I had so much fun visiting Camy Tang's strong-willed Asian cousins again. I am so hopeful this series isn't over. Single Sashimi is my favorite so far, and I loved the other books. Funny, fast paced, great characters, great plot, great romance.
I loved this book. I love Venus. I'm even starting to like Grandma...a little. A must read.
