I Made the Newspaper

I made the newspaper. Thought you might get a kick out of this.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I set my book Nosy in Nebraska in a small town newspaper not unlike this one, though it's modernized since I worked there.
So my book is old school, though some small town newspapers still are run this way.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I think it's almost a long enough story.
Thank you, Norma Farrens who wrote the story.
And who's name is mispronunced every bit as often as mine is.

Woah! Is that a medal hanging around your neck in the picture? How cool to make the paper! Congrats on making the news! And don't feel bad about people not pronouncing your name right. I have learned to answer to anything!

Wow! Front page, headline! WooHoo!! Congratulations! That's awesome! You should be very proud, of course in a humble down-to-earth kind of way. ;)

That medal around my neck is my Christy Finalist medal.

sssssoooooooo much cooler than the usually awards I win, like those lovely green 'participation' ribbons in an elementary school track meets.

And I always say if you've got a name that's hard to pronounce and/or spell you've just got to be a good sport about it being mis-pronounced and mis-spelled.

If you're name is Mary but you spell it Merry, you've just got to keep smiling.

BTW Connealy is pronounced a lot like Oh, Really.

That's the best example I can come up with and I've been tryign to think of a better one for 32 years.

And Farrens is pronounced exactly like Barns.

huh. co-nealy? i've been thinking it was connally (sorta) when i think your name. maybe you could say it's like co-fealy with an "n" instead. OOOH! cop-a-fealy. that would get people every time. :)

CONGRATS on the christy final and the nice write-up! and thanks for sharing...i'm pretty sure i wouldn't be able to see that down here in MS. :)

Well, Jeanie, you've given me something to think about. Trying to picture myself sayign to the nice lady who wants to interview me on the radio..."It's pronounced like "cop-a-feely"

I'm terrified of what she might accidentally say while the interview is going on. !!!!!

:)

GRACE!!!
It's so nice you stopped in.

Yes, I'm extremely proud but in a perfecly understated, "Pride-is-a-sin" kind of way.

I have never been in the newspaper so I would not have any idea how it feels, but if I have wrote a book as good as yours I would love to have all the attention. congratulations
